Healthy tan

The sun is almost 5 billion years old. It is the dominant celestial body in our planetary system and literally everything revolves around it. The sun is of fundamental importance for life on earth. Many processes on the Earth's surface, such as the climate and life itself, are only made possible by solar radiation.

Many ancient cultures regarded the sun as a deity or the highest power in their cosmology. The Greek philosopher Plato even modelled the good, his highest principle of humanity, on the sun. For us today, the sun is simply a giver of life and a benefactor. It caresses our psyche and soul and ensures relaxation and well-being. It activates the metabolism, improves blood circulation and strengthens the immune system. It helps us to produce vitamin D - important for our bones and muscles.

Tiroler Nussöl stands for sun enjoyment and a healthy tan - but also for a conscious approach to the sun. Learn more about this in our "sun primer" and the 10 tips for sunbathing!

10 tips for sunbathing

  • Getting your skin used to the sun

Slowly acclimatise your skin to the sun. Depending on your skin type, do not expose your skin to the sun for too long!

  • Avoid the midday sun

Stay in the shade on sunny days with a high UV index and above all avoid the midday sun between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. - this is the time with the strongest sunlight!

  • Cover head and body

Always wear headgear that also protects your forehead, nose and ears when you are out in the sun for long periods of time. And wear suitable clothing that protects you from UV light.

  • Apply cream in good time

Apply cream to exposed skin areas in good time before exposing them to the sun. And use a suitable sun protection factor (SPF)!

  • Apply cream generously

Apply the sunscreen evenly and generously. This is because small amounts reduce protection.

  • Apply cream after bathing

Renew your sun protection after bathing or swimming or if you have been sweating!

  • Observe the protection time

Remember: Repeated application of sunscreen does not extend the time spent in the sun. The calculated protection time may only be utilised once every 24 hours.

  • Do not expose small children to the sun

Never expose small children and infants to direct sunlight. Use high sun protection factors (SPF > 25) and protective clothing.

  • Caution with medication

Medication can increase the skin's sensitivity to light or trigger allergic reactions - ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking medication!

  • Be careful with cosmetics, deodorants and perfumes

Cosmetics, deodorants or perfumes can cause photoallergic reactions or pigmentation disorders when exposed to the sun and should therefore not be used when sunbathing.
