At home in the mountains for over 100 years.

Did you know that walnuts are one of the oldest sunscreens? Valuable oils from its green shell were already being used in the last century for natural pre-tanning of the skin. Tiroler Nussöl became established as the first sun protection oil in Germany and Austria. Since then, the top-secret recipe has been continuously developed and adapted to the latest dermatological findings.

The sun care products with the Tyrolean eagle owe their popularity not only to their skin compatibility and their exquisite nourishing effect, but also to their unique fragrance. Quite simply because it awakens a longing for the beauty of the mountains in all of us.

Snow reflects 80-90% UV

50% of UV exposure from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

90% UV penetrates clouds

The higher the mountains, the more intense the sun.

UV exposure increases by 15 % per 1,000 metres of altitude - in the glacier ski areas in the Alps it is therefore almost twice as high as in the valley. Optimum, preventative protection is essential here, because once the skin is reddened, it's already too late!

Effective prevention involves responsible behaviour as well as the use of suitable sun protection products with effective filter combinations.

The right skin protection is crucial.

Winter in the mountains places special demands on the skin. In addition to the cold and wind, increased UV radiation and reflective snow require increased sun protection.

If you go skiing unprotected, you risk sunburn and serious skin damage even when the clouds are closed. The categorisation of human skin by skin type is helpful in determining your own protection time and therefore your personal risk of sunburn.

Ten basic rules for sun protection on a skiing holiday.

  1. Slowly acclimatise your skin to the sun. Depending on your skin type, do not expose your skin to the sun for too long!
  2. Don't be fooled by the cold winter air in the mountains: The risk of sunburn is higher here than by the sea, for example.
  3. Always wear headgear that also protects your forehead, nose and ears when spending long periods in the sun.
  4. Apply sun cream to exposed areas of skin in good time before exposing them to the sun and use a suitable sun protection factor (SPF)!
  5. Use sun cream even on cloudy days - the UV radiation penetrates through the clouds and is reflected by the snow by 80-90%.
  6. Apply sun cream evenly and generously, as small amounts reduce protection.
  7. Reapply sunscreen regularly, especially if you have been sweating!
  8. Please note: Repeated application of sunscreen does not extend the time spent in the sun. The calculated protection time may only be utilised once every 24 hours!
  9. Never expose small children and babies to direct sunlight. Use high sun protection factors (SPF > 25) and protective clothing.
  10. Medication can increase the skin's sensitivity to light or trigger allergic reactions - ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking medication!
